STUDIO TOUR
The Beth Zink Studio is located in the beautiful Sonoran Desert, in the quaint western town of Cave Creek, Arizona. All works on display are original acrylic paintings by artist Beth Zink, known for her vibrant contemporary botanical paintings. The Studio is open by appointment all year, and is now available for private group tours.
Built in 2007, the Studio was built as Beth’s workspace, and as a teaching facility for her corporate group painting workshops and other classes. With its attached kitchen and restroom, the Studio can accommodate up to 24 people. There is plenty of bus parking, and the studio is conveniently located just southeast of Carefree Highway and Cave Creek Road (MAP for Beth Zink Studio).
Beth’s Studio Tour will include a painting demonstration and discussion about life as a professional artist. She encourages the audience’s participation and questions about the creative process. Many of Beth’s original works hang in her Studio, and there are boxed note cards and holiday cards for sale.
CLASSES
Having taught for more than 20 years, and currently a teacher of many adult students, Beth enjoys sharing her love of painting. Her philosophy of teaching is one which incorporates enthusiasm and humor in a relaxed atmosphere… ”edutainment,” if you will!
Weekly ongoing classes are conducted at the Beth Zink Studio. Call or email for availability. 480-538-5428 or beth@bethzinkart.com.
“Paint the Desert” Workshops
In 2002, Beth Zink designed a painting workshop program for convention guests at area resorts. It is based on her philosophy of teaching adults in a relaxed atmosphere, with enthusiasm and humor.
During the 3-hour workshop, students paint along with Beth. Working together, they create a small landscape on canvas. Beth provides a pre-sketched canvas and all supplies. Instruction is simple, fun and structured for beginners. Students learn basic painting techniques, and the landscapes are completed during the class, dry and ready to be taken home as a memento of their visit. Workshops can be conducted “on property”, or at the newly constructed Beth Zink Studio, just southeast of Carefree Highway and Cave Creek Road, in Cave Creek, Arizona (MAP for Beth Zink Studio).
Resorts offer a variety of leisure/spouse activities to convention guests. This program setup is simple, can be held indoors or out, and combined with beverage and/or meal service. If opting for the Studio location, there are kitchenette, staging, dining and restroom facilities. 24 Students can be accommodated at the Studio. For workshops held on property, there is no maximum, because assistants are hired for larger groups.
Companies often search for “new and different” methods of entertaining clients at conventions and conferences. Many convention attendees are well-traveled, educated, and have “been there, done that.” This program offers an alternative. The workshops have given Beth the opportunity to share her love of painting with more than 1000 visitors to the Valley!
Colleen Horan, president of The Destination Manager, has been booking her clients in Zink’s “Paint the Desert” workshops for six years. Based in Scottsdale, The Destination Manager provides destination expertise for inbound corporate, incentive and association groups.
“Our experience working with Beth has been fabulous, and much of that is due to her personality and how she conducts her class. Overall, client response to her workshops has been exceptional,” Horan said.
“Paint, Create, Collaborate!” Team Building Activity
The exciting new “Paint, Create, Collaborate!” Team Building Activity is an adaptation of Beth Zink’s popular “Paint the Desert” workshop which she has conducted with more than 1000 participants since 2002!
This activity is designed to recharge employees and strengthen relationships with potential clients. It is open to corporate meeting and convention guests, as well as local area business professionals. Call it a “mini-retreat,” a half-day “perk”, a “right-brained morning or afternoon”. Not unlike golf, the painting experience requires focus, which clears the mind, resulting in stress relief and renewed energy….but there is NO PRESSURE! Everyone works at his/her own pace, and they function as a team. Beth likes to say that it is easier than “paint by numbers!” and there is absolutely NO experience necessary!
During the 1 ½- 3-hour activity, students paint along with Beth. Working together, they create a small landscape on canvas. She provides a pre-sketched canvas and all supplies. Instruction is simple, and based on Beth’s philosophy of teaching adults in a relaxed atmosphere with enthusiasm and humor. Students learn basic painting techniques, and the collaborative landscapes are completed in class. The interaction among the “artists” is good-humored and congenial, and the experience is fun for all. Time goes by really quickly!
Unlike the “Paint the Desert” workshops where each individual completes one canvas, these participants complete one feature of the landscape, (the sky, for example,) before passing the canvas to the “artist to their left”, for the next step. With that “new” canvas, the artists paint another feature before passing their canvases to the left. Step by step, as the canvases are passed around the room, the landscapes begin to take shape. Clouds appear in the skies, mountains are added, then the desert floor, bushes grow, flowers bloom, and saguaros finish the landscape. The “artists” have created a group of “collaborative paintings.” Each participant has a “hand” in each of the paintings. Each masterpiece is a “team effort”. The paintings are mementos of the event which the “artists” take home and enjoy.
This activity can be conducted at company offices, board rooms, hotel conference rooms, or at the newly constructed Beth Zink Studio in Cave Creek, just southeast of Carefree Highway and Cave Creek Rd. The classes can be held indoors or out, and combined with beverage and/or meal service. (Staging areas and parking for catering trucks are available on property.) The Studio can accommodate 24 students, and there is plenty of parking for buses. For activities held on hotel properties, there is no maximum number of students, as Beth hires assistants for larger groups.
